Hidayah — Support

Hidayah is a free, fully offline Quran app. Read, listen, memorize, and pray on time. No ads, no tracking, no account.

Need help, or found a problem?

Email hidaya.from.quran@gmail.com.

Inside the app, Settings → About → Report a bug is faster: it attaches your app version, device and language automatically, so we can reproduce the problem without asking you for details.

Common questions

The app is large. Why? Everything is bundled so it works with no internet at all: the full Quran in three narrations, translations, tafsir, the six major hadith collections, duas, and printed Muṣḥaf pages.

Prayer times look wrong. Check the calculation method in Settings, or pick your local mosque so the app uses its own published times and iqāma.

The adhan comes late, or several arrive at once (Android). Android is allowed to hold back an app's alarms to save battery, and when the phone wakes it releases the held ones together. Two settings fix it:

  1. Alarms & reminders. If the app sees this switched off it shows a warning in Settings under the prayer alerts. Tap it and allow.
  2. Battery optimisation. Open your phone's Settings, Apps, Hidayah, Battery, and choose Unrestricted (Samsung calls it "Unrestricted", Xiaomi "No restrictions", Huawei "Manual management" with all three switches on). Samsung users should also turn off "Put unused apps to sleep" in Settings, Battery, Background usage limits, or add Hidayah to "Never sleeping apps".

The adhan sounds at the minute shown on the Prayer tab. If the notification is late but the printed time is right, it is one of the two settings above.

The Qibla direction looks wrong. Hold the phone flat in your palm, screen facing up. Android reads the compass from the phone's tilt, so holding it upright makes the needle drift. If your phone has no compass sensor, the app shows the angle in degrees instead of a needle, and you can use it with a separate compass.

Does the app track me? No. See the privacy policy.
